It has been announced, for the first time, the number of Tier 2 work permits (for skilled workers from outside the EU) has reached the monthly ceiling.

Fortunately Ground Engineers (Geotechnical Engineers, Engineering Geologists, Contaminated Land Engineers and Tunnelling Engineers) are on the Home Office Shortage Occupation List and therefore get priority over non shortage occupations. Invoking the Shortage Occupation List also removes the obligation to prove that it has not been possible to recruit a suitable candidate from within the UK or elsewhere in the EU.
