Driving is statically the most dangerous work activity that most people do. About 20 people are killed and 250 seriously injured every week in crashes involving someone at work. Although road traffic accidents are dealt with by the police and are not reportable under RIDDOR, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) say that “health and safety law applies to ‘on‐the‐road work related activities’ as to all work activities and the risks should be effectively managed within health and safety systems” Any incident involving commercial vehicles or other vehicles being used on company business must be reported to the Employer as soon as possible.
