Gas risk assessment is a complex process under current UK guidance and standards, and should only be specified and undertaken by competent persons with an understanding and appreciation of that complexity in relation to identified, specified and quantifiable potential risks. Each site will be unique in terms of gas and vapour generation, material (source) types, transmission and accessibility in respect of its current and proposed use/development. Likewise, the solutions available to mitigate identified risks will vary and must be competently, logically and scientifically assessed, demonstrated and undertaken to ensure compliance with UK regulatory requirements from the conceptual stage onwards.
