The AGS Data Management Working Group invites you to attend this full-day CPD conference, which will cover the latest developments and advancements in AGS Electronic Transfer of Data.
Chaired by Jackie Bland (Principal Ground Investigation Data Manager at Structural Soils & AGS Data Management Working Group Leader), this full-day, CPD event will explore what’s working, what’s changing, and what’s next for AGS Data Format across four dynamic sessions.
Whether you’re an engineering geologist, geotechnical engineer, geoenvironmental specialist or data scientist, this event will provide industry expert presentations from the AGS Data Management Working Group (DMWG) including an overview of the refinements to the AGS4 data dictionary, the release of AGS 4.2, AGSi, AGS Piling and an outline of the proposed AGS 5.
During this one day conference, the Working Group will discuss recent developments since the 2022 Conference. They’ll include an overview of the need-to-know refinements to the AGS4 data dictionary and a broad summary of the Working Groups activities. They’ll also use the time to signpost to some helpful resources.
Attendees will also have the chance to engage with members of the Working Group and gain perspective of the industry’s data management thought leaders.

Principal Ground Investigation Data Manager at Structural Soils
Jackie has worked in the industry developing geotechnical software and internal systems since 1989. She has been closely involved with the Association of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Specialists (AGS) ‘Electronic Transfer of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Data’ since its inception in 1990 (AGS 1.0). In 2010 she took over the Chairmanship of the Data Management Working Group responsible for its continued development and progress.
Senior Technical Solutions Specialist at Seequent
Phil Child is a Senior Technical Solutions Specialist with the GIM services team. He helps clients to get the most from the OpenGround suite of applications. Having held a variety of roles he is particularly interested in the point where technology meets human and as such is passionate about learning.
He is also an active member of the AGS serving on both the Data Management and Instrumentation & Monitoring Working Groups.

He is a founder member of the AGS Data Management Group.

She specialises in ground characterisation in the offshore, coastal, and onshore environments. She is an expert in digital ground engineering and is Deputy Discipline Lead for Geo-data Management at AtkinsRéalis.

Simon is a Geotechnical Engineer and Fellow of the ICE with experience in site investigation, geotechnical studies, foundation engineering, earthworks & earthworks materials, pavement foundations and construction, with particular emphasis on highways/railways. He is Discipline Lead for Geotechnical Data Management within AtkinsRéalis, and a Member of the AGS Data Management Working Group, a Geotechnical Adviser on the Register of Ground Engineering Professionals and a Supervising Civil Engineer (SCE).

Neil is a geotechnical engineer with over 30 years of experience. He has special expertise in data management and the application of digital technologies in ground engineering. He is a member of the AGS Data Management Working Group and is the lead author of AGSi and AGS Piling.

Melody has over twenty years’ experience in ground investigation (GI) and currently leads the SOCOTEC UK GI Technical Team managing technical processes and reporting, standards and training and supports staff to attain Chartership. She is a member of the Engineering Group of the Geological Society, the AGS Data Management Working Group and the AGS Piling subgroup.

Conrad specialises in the management and delivery of geotechnical and geoenvironmental data. He has over 11 years experience in the industry, covering ground investigation workflows, system integration, and digital innovation. Edd Lewis is responsible for improving BGS data provision through the implementation of geospatial data standards to better align with FAIR data principles. He is a member of the British Standard Institute IST/36 Geographic Information Committee, GEMINI & MEDIN Metadata Standards Working Groups, Association of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Specialists (AGS) AGS Data Format Working Group and contributor to ISO/TC 211 & OGC standards.

Phil Wade is a geotechnical engineer and the founder and managing director of Datgel. He is an expert gINT and gINT Rules API developer, .NET/Database developer and Windows/MS Azure administrator. He is a member of the AGS UK Data Management Working Group, and the AGS 4.1 Australia Working Group. Phil was the primary author of AGS 3.1 RTA 1.1 for NSW Australia and contributed to developing AGS 3.1 (SG) for Singapore.

Romain is a geotechnical engineer who began his career in Specialist Geotechnical Consultancies before spending five years as a software engineer in finance. He returned to civil engineering 20 years ago and has since focused on developing digital solutions.

Paul has 25+ years’ experience in Ground Investigation Data Management in both the consulting and contracting arenas. He has been an active and vocal member of the AGS DMWG since 2017, whose aim is to share his knowledge and experience of the specification, implementation and subsequent integration of the AGS Data format into wider information systems.

Craig Brown is a Chartered Geologist and Engineer, working as a Principal Data Manager at BAM, where he is responsible for overseeing geotechnical data management systems and solutions. He has over 14 years’ experience in Ground Investigation, and has been an active member of the AGS Data Management Working Group since 2018.
Senior Engineering Manager at Strata Geotechnics
Jono drives the Engineering Team at Strata Geotechnics part of the Van Elle Group. His industrial experience started in piling of all kinds before continuing his career into ground investigation where he has worked for 10 years, developing digital solutions and workflows, managing the ever growing team of engineers, ensuring high quality ground investigation data to mitigate ground risk across projects from a wide variety of sectors.

Leon Warrington has over 18 years’ experience as a hydrogeologist, specialising in hydrogeology, geotechnical, geothermal, and geo-environmental engineering. He focuses on data management, site investigations, environmental risk assessment, technical report writing, and groundwater flow modelling. Leon has demonstrated leadership in data management and has been a member of the AGS Data Management Working Group since 2020.
