• Nuclear Moisture/Density Meters (NDMs) contain active ionising radioactive sources.
• Use of NDMs must adhere to “The Ionising Radiations Regulations 1999” and this is supplemented by the Approved Code of Practice and Guidance (ACOP) HSE L121.
• Employees using NDMs must be subject to stringent control and measurement of individual radiation exposure limits.
• Risk assessments should be compiled in consultation with a competent and trained Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA)
