The intrusive phase of works is a fundamental part of the industry. During the fieldwork, adequate welfare provision can have a positive benefit on health and wellbeing of workers.
Regard must be paid to the requirement for welfare facilities (toilet, washing facilities, changing rooms, rest areas etc.). For smaller, transient sites, welfare may take the form of locating nearby toilet facilities or the use of a welfare vehicle. It may also be possible to make use of permanent facilities located on site subject to prior approval with the site occupier. On more labour intensive or remote sites welfare may involve temporary accommodation.
This Guidance covers welfare arrangements, site welfare and further references on site welfare provisions.
