Requirements for Membership of the AGS

Member Firm

• Provides specialist services in geotechnical or geoenvironmental engineering: design, supervision, advice, contracting, laboratory testing or provision of material
• UK registered company or partnership
• Has at least 3 years experience
• Has a commitment to set, maintain and enhance quality standards and procedures
• Has at least 3 full time geotechnical or geoenvironmental specialists (meeting specified standards of qualification and/or experience) at least one of whom must have 10 years experience

Associate Member Firm

• As Member Firm but with fewer than 3 specialists with appropriate qualifications

Personal Member

• A sufficiently experienced geotechnical or geoenvironmental practitioner resident in the UK
• Active in a firm or organisation which is itself unable to fulfil the requirements as a Member Firm or Associate Member Firm

Affiliate Member

• A Firm with appropriate academic or professional experience
• Sympathetic to the objectives of the AGS and able to demonstrate interactive participation in geotechnical or geoenvironmental activities
• May be a non-UK organisation, subject to the discretion of the AGS
